Influencing Teaching and Learning

FAQs

a) What qualifications do I need?
You need to have a GCSE Grade C or above in English (Literature or Language) and Mathematics.

b) What happens if I can't find my original certificates?
You can apply online to an examination website for any lost certificates, www.openquals.org.uk. You will have to pay for a replacement and the costs will depend on the board you took the original examination with. You can ask for a ‘Statement of Results’ which could cost less.

c) What is meant by whole class teaching?
The term 'whole class' is not defined by an absolute or precise number of pupils; it really depends on the school you work in. You have to demonstrate that you have had a role in planning, introducing, managing learning, behaviour, monitoring and assessing and advancing learning within a class of children with diverse needs.

d) What happens if I start my 3 day Preparation and can’t complete my training because of certain circumstances?
Depending on what the circumstances are, you could opt into another Preparation session on another date in a different venue.

e) Three Teaching Assistants at the same school want to apply for the Modular Training, will we be allowed too start together?
That has to be determined by your school and whether or not they are prepared to release you all at the same time. Local Authorities do not discriminate against candidates who are from the same school when they are delegating funding.
