Assessment
At the end of whichever route candidates have undertaken (3 day Preparation or 10 Day Modular), there is an assessment of the candidate against the HLTA Standards.
Assessment involves a half day visit to your school by an Assessor approved by the Regional Provider of Assessment. In the East Midlands, EM Direct candidates are assessed by the East Midlands HLTA Consortium (www.emhlta.org.uk).
During the Assessor’s visit, the evidence on how you meet the HLTA Standards will be assessed.
The school visit enables you to:
- Explain in more detail the activities you have used as evidence in the assessment tasks;
- Make available the documentary and oral evidence that supports these assessment tasks;
- Have your evidence verified by the headteacher and class teacher(s)
At the end of the visit the Assessor will reach a conclusion as to whether you have met the Standards, which will be verified by the Regional Provider of Assessment (RPA) – this is undertaken through a monthly Moderation event. The RPA will notify you of the outcome within 8 weeks of the school visit.
Further details on the Assessment Visit can be found in the Handbook for Candidates which can be downloaded from the TDA website at www.tda.gov.uk/support/hlta/resourcebank.aspx
