Application Process

Guide to our Application Process

  1. Firstly, please read all the information on Application Routes and the supporting information below to help you to decide which route you are going to follow.
  2. Register with the TA (if you haven’t already done so)
  3. Visit our TA Provider results details page on the TDA website. Either by following the link given here or by searching for “Education Management Direct” and/or searching for a “National” provider.
  4. Read the information on our Provider Details page and once ready to apply scroll down the page and click the green “Apply” button.
  5. If you are applying with a supporting school please complete all fields and upload a fully completed School Endorsement Form in the “confirmation letter from school” section, by clicking “Browse”. Please note that an additional confirmation letter from the school will not be required.
  6. If you are applying, initially, without a supporting school, please enter “TBC” in the School Name field. Please note that successful candidates will be required to find their own supporting school prior to commencement.
  7. If you are applying to either Leeds/Bradford (Primary Only) or Dyke House Locality Centre, please state the name of the Locality Centre in the School Name field. No additional information in this section will be required.
  8. When completing your “Statement” you should address the following:
  • Why you want to be a teacher.
  • A self-evaluation of the personal qualities you possess that would make you an effective teacher.
  • The strategies you have used to increase your knowledge and understanding of education prior to making this application.
  • An assessment of your knowledge and understanding of the primary or secondary curriculum with comments on the relevance of your degree and/or other qualifications, to the subject or phase in which you intend to teach.
  • Identification of immediate priorities for the development of your subject knowledge.
  • Details of any relevant experience you have of working with young people or training others either in a professional or voluntary capacity.
  • Your recent career history and its relevance to your GTP application. In particular comment on situations where you have managed/supported/monitored others, led initiatives.
