Some SKE courses are designed to take place before commencement of an ITT (Initial Teacher Training) programme and are intended to help participants achieve QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) by providing the knowledge required to meet Standard Q14 of the QTS standards – "to have a secure knowledge and understanding of their subject"
You may be referred to a Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course as part of a conditional offer made by an ITT provider who has offered you a teacher training place. You can be referred to an EM Direct SKE Course by any ITT provider in England.
EM Direct delivers two week, full time (1 Unit) SKE Courses in: Maths; Physics; Chemistry and Modern Language. The courses take place in the summer term before you commence your ITT programme. These courses are designed to refresh the subject knowledge you already have as part of your degree.
For those meeting eligibility requirements all the above courses are FREE to attend as they are fully funded by the TDA and on completion of a course, you may be eligible to receive a TDA Bursary.
