Information, advice and guidance
EM Direct is working alongside the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) on a project funded by the Training and Development Agency for schools (TDA).
We are making a number of presentations to offer advice and information about careers in education including TEACHING and the wider work force such as SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGERS and TEACHING ASSISTANTS.
Presentations will be made at Regional Resettlement Centre's (RRC's) and will provide information and advice about a range of careers in education but will focus mainly on teaching as a career option.
Check to see when we will be visiting your nearest RRC and be sure to book your place.

Job Opportunities
Currently TDA is looking to recruit trainee teachers in all phases of education but especially in the priority areas of:
- the secondary shortage subjects of Mathematics, Science (particularly Physics and Chemistry), Modern Languages, Music, Design & Technology, Religious Education and Information & Communication Technology (ICT), and
- men teaching in primary schools.
Remember that schools have a very large workforce and there are opportunities for a wide range of careers.

- Taster courses - if you are in your final year prior to leaving the services, find out more about teaching as a profession and experience a placement day in school by joining a 3 day Taster Course.
- Returner Courses - a 10 week refresher course for anyone who already holds Qualified Teacher Status.
- Graduate Teacher Programme - an employment based route of the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP), where you can earn a salary of approximately £15,400 whilst you train.
Important Information
- EM Direct is a TDA Accredited Provider of Initial Teacher Training (ITT), approved to train and assess for Qualified Teacher Status through the Graduate Teacher Programme.
- BUT we are also contracted by the TDA to provide advice about teaching as a career and ALL routes into Initial Teacher Training (ITT) including the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
- Applicants for the Graduate Teacher Programme must be Graduates and have a minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) for Mathematics and English (plus Science if training to teach at Primary).
- As part of our "Pathway to Success" we can advise on routes to gaining appropriate qualifications and becoming a graduate - credits may be given for prior training.
