Long Extended Professional Development (EPD) Pathway

The extended professional development (EPD) pathways for candidates who need to enhance their qualifications and experience.

There are two pathways for those who have qualifications and experience that are broadly relevant to EYPS, who are currently working in the sector, and require further training and/or experience to meet the Standards:

Following the initial diagnostic assessment candidates will have been advised to follow the short or long EPD process before going forward for the validation process. Whatever pathway is more appropriate, the programme will be differentiated to enable individual candidates to ‘top-up’ their knowledge, understanding and experience in order that they meet the EYP Standards.

The Long EPD Pathway

This pathway is especially suited to those with an Early Years Foundation Degree and experience of work with 0-5 year olds.

Candidates with degrees in un-related subjects but with experience in the 0-5 age range are also potential candidates.

It is also possible that those with a vocational degree (e.g. Health Care) and substantial experience in the 0-5 sector may be suitable candidates.
