Do you know you can train to be a teacher for £7800?
This is the fee for our SCITT course for Trainee teachers who begin their course in September 2013 and wish to work in either the primary or secondary sector. £7800 is the course fee for the year long course, the completion of which will result in you achieving Qualified Teacher Status and also achieving PGCE. Most successful applicants will be able to access a loan from the Student Loan Company for all or most of the course fee.

All applications through EM Direct and their partnership schools MUST consider the following criteria when writing a supporting statement within their application. Each applicant will be assessed on how well they have met these criteria, as part of our recruitment and selection procedures:

An explanation of why you want to be a teacher and a demonstration of your commitment to becoming a teacher

A self-evaluation of the personal qualities you possess that would make you an effective teacher

Your rationale for selecting your proposed Lead School and your experience there (if applicable)

Your understanding of current educational priorities within the phase that you wish to teach

An evaluation of your personal knowledge and qualifications in relation to the age range that you wish to teach

For Secondary, comment on the relevance of your degree qualification to the subject you intend to teach. If the content of your degree qualification is not a good match to the subject you intend to teach, provide other evidence to clearly demonstrate that you have an appropriate depth of relevant subject knowledge

An assessment of your current subject knowledge and identification of immediate priorities for the development of your own subject knowledge

Details of any relevant experience you have of working with children or young people

Your career/academic history and its relevance to your application and the teaching profession
This should be no more than 2 sides of A4 or 600 words.
